This relational performance management system assists the management in making, quicker,
better and more informed decisions. After collating and data-mining the individual and
vessel performance data obtained from different sources like Performance appraisals from
vessels, Owners, Customers, Technical Organization, Profit centers and Purchase department
feedback, interactive result is obtained as per management’s requirements.
Though this system presently focuses on three dimensions, i.e. Individual Performance,
Vessel Performance and Career Development, it has the capability to accept a broader
spectrum. Truly in line with Advanced Performance Management System, this program is
dynamic and has the ability to move with time. In the endeavor to radically decentralize
and enhance the “value-based” service, the concept of performance management has taken the
precedence. Though, a quantitative performance evaluation is almost impossible, still all
measures are taken to ensure a minimal error and unbiased grading-matrix in final report.
The other aspect of the program is that, it can be used as self-evaluation and helps in
self-actualization for the better. This periodical visual representation of vessel’s over
all standing in fleet, will revitalize the work force and create a healthy internal
competition. As the program is dynamic in nature it has encompassed the Managerial
Performance Index study of the fleet and can be accessed thru it while assessing officers
for different business process.
By providing, the interactive LTA Frequency viewer, it is easier to identify and initiate
remedial / preventive action for recurrence of such unfortunate incidents. The continuous
monitoring of performance of vessel can be done thru the program, giving the user the
option of comparing by Type of vessel, Class of Vessel. The Career development process
which is presently under construction , when completed will help in identifying explicit
and latent need of our officer for their career enhancement.
The security is enhanced by giving different level of authority in accessing the diverse
attribute of the program. The level of authorities are; Administrator, Manager, and Operator,
where the administrator has all over-riding authorities and total control of the program,
managers can read and write the data, and operator will read the data but can not write
any thing to database.
